ERC-4626 explained
Deposit, withdraw and share accounting. The standard stops before strategy risk.

- 02deposit / mint
- 03shares
- 04withdraw / redeem
What the standard actually covers
ERC-4626 describes a tokenised vault: users deposit an underlying asset and receive shares. Methods such as deposit, mint, withdraw and redeem, plus convertToShares and convertToAssets, make the interface predictable for wallets and aggregators.
What it does not cover
It does not say how the vault earns, who can upgrade it, which oracle it trusts, or whether you can leave today. Two ERC-4626 vaults can share an interface and share almost no risk profile.
A practical check
Confirm the underlying asset address, the share token, and whether the preview functions match what the strategy can actually settle. A preview that assumes instant liquidity is wrong for a vault that cannot exit its positions immediately.
